One run to remember

Image
It's been an interesting week. Training wise, all OK- I think! The weather has been decent, we oculd use the garden with the new grass - divine!  Kids broke for half term, and here I am in Kidzania, all redundant whilst they do their play, and with a moment to myself. But I wanted to talk about something else, something more substantial than that. Everyone that runs knows that it is a time for oneself, good endorphins, good superpowers after, headspace during it, fitness building, wellbeing all over. Everyoen that doesn't run knows that mental health is helped by exercise in general. But this past  week has been a week in which that point has been brought home yet one more time beautifully to me. Infact, I am a little teary about it, but in a good way.  As things go, coincidence weaves in its long twirly tails and finds Tara and me in a week of - trying to be as cryptic but as concise as possible - in a particularly different mood than usual. One of those times when when stuff

The rainy Jumble Sale

Last Sunday the Jumble Trail happened! It was a rainy day, that kind of drizzly day that seems stuck in twilight zone, with periodically strong showers We started off well, even before the 11am advertised starting time, whilst we were still unloading the boxes and setting up the shop. A few ladies came immediately, rummaged through our stuff, and picked up some toys and clothes. Helped with our confidence! Then we have the passing traffic, with the kids yanking at the parents to start digging through the toys positionned strategically at the front . We had Tara being a natural at talking to people and having them pick up some stuff, and tried really hard to not have plastered over my face the thought of 'Please buy this sh*t, we gotta make money, pretty please think it's nice and buy some'. My plants did well, and thye're the only ones I felt  reluctant to let go - they're my babies, grown from seed! However, still about 50 tomatoes plants left, and I am trying to

Artie-Leo-Maxi-Ernie Shop  Raising money for Place2Be Self Explanatory! Except for a few explanations. Any questions, please ask. DISCLAIMERS: 1.  I am the type of person that puts a brand new thing away, then forgets about it. I am also the type of person who buys the wrong size off the internet, then never returns the items. So there will be many brand new things, some with labels on, many very well kept items.  2. There may be issues with selling some toys, as everybody knows that an 18m old, a 5 yrs old, a 6 yrs old,  and a 7 yrs old can always change their mind without taking any responsibility for it. The toys chosen for sale have been (and still are) combed through, discussed and analysed with the children, and they really really want to raise money 'so children that are sad can become happier again at school because of the special charity 'teacher' that makes children happy' ( that is a mot-a-mot quote, and I'm satisfied with their grasping of the purpose

A few words about our chosen charity #Place2Be

Leo, my (almost 5 yrs old) asked me yesterday: "Mummy, what is a Place2Be ? " He's heard the name floating around as we're raising money for this charity, through some events and also through running the Berlin marathon.  It's a charity that's located in schools, to support children's mental health, right? But that went over Leo's head, obviously, so he moved on. I went to him, and opened a conversation about it. The "You know when you sometimes feel/want/don't want something? Well, this thing Ima tell you about helps kids with that". So, I told him it's a place that helps children that feel very worried, sad, with tricky problems that are hard to fix, to become happy again. That means that a special 'Teacher-person' will always be in the school, in a special room, and all that person will do is not phonics, maths, history, P.E. etc, but help children feel very safe, very important, very heard, and learn how to fix so many
